Lisa Gould-Lewis has been an educator for 28 years; 25 of them here on the Central Coast of California. Lisa has taught in public, private and home school settings from Kindergarten through eighth grades. Her favorite approach to student learning is through thematic, inter-disciplinary studies and the use of open- ended questions, or the Socratic method.

During the years working as a teacher in San Luis Coastal Unified Schools, Lisa also served as a member of the district Math cadre, Science kit development, and authentic assessment committees. Lisa was a mentor teacher for new teacher support for two years, and was also an adjunct professor to Cal Poly in Education in the area of Classroom Management and Discipline.

Over the years Lisa has also home schooled her two sons at different periods of their educational process. Working closely with home school parents, Lisa saw the need for a community designed to support the learning process for those who wanted the best of group learning and individual learning. She had the privilege of working closely with Susie Theule to develop SLO Classical Academy in 2004.

Not only has Lisa been a school teacher but she has had the privilege of teaching God's Word to women and children as well.

Lisa is a wife to Colin and mother of Matt and Mark. She enjoys reading, gardening and riding their tandem bike with her husband.

Lisa's session will be on: Nature Study: Connecting Children with Creation
Nature Study is a wonderful way to help your children learn to appreciate both the detail God has put into Creation and the beauty of their surroundings. We will identify some of the historic elements and benefits of appreciating creation as well as how best to integrate nature study into your ongoing lesson plans. Strategies, resources and tools will be explored and you will see how to completely infuse the reality of God throughout nature study.
