What are the two most critical things you can do as a parent to develop a high level of aptitude, from a young age and into high school? With humor and insight, Andrew will share the two easy but unbelievably powerful things you can do to build language patterns and nurture competent communicators in your family.

This may seem like an odd topic for the time of year when many are enthusiastic about getting started for a new year, but I want to speak to the hearts of women that there are seasons in the homeschooling journey. Not every season is spring, and the delay in seeing what we're believing God to do in our home environments does not mean that we are being denied. Mine is a word of encouragement to assure those listening that the trials we endure in our journey really are about growth and development of us and our children, and when we look on them in a different light, they really are all joy.

During the earliest years of life, children learn from their parents how to see the world. These most basic assumptions that they develop become the lenses through which they see all of life. How can parents intentionally nurture their children during the first five years to help them perceive and love what is good, and true and beautiful? How can parents communicate a God-entranced vision of all things and be patient and prayerful in allowing the Holy Spirit to bring conversion and new life? These are the questions we will tackle together!

We know that God's Word says we are to impress His commands on our children by talking about them when we sit, walk, lie down and get up (Deuteronomy 6:4-9). That's all the time! What better tool can we have than homeschooling -- but how often our good intentions are sidetracked by "necessities" like school, chores, and schedules. Wouldn't it be nice if we could use the Bible as our primary textbook so that all our conversations and actions centered around God's Word? In this session, we'll try to make this practical. We'll talk about how to use the Bible for all subjects, including reading, grammar, math, history, science, and everything in between. We'll also talk about how to apply the Bible with our children in every hour of the day.

Amy has been "living the dream" as a reality. As a speaker, the co-owner of such sites as Heart of the Matter Online, A Woman Inspired and Internet Cafe Devotions, cover girl for CWO magazine in August 2008, featured on Inside Out christian television program, recent She Speaks graduate, and a published writer, she knows what it means to balance the gifts that flow through one household.
She has an aspiring scientist, a budding artist, and one veggie/veterinarian on her hands and she encourages them all. The underlying premise here is that even if she reaches thousands of women for Christ but neglects her own children then she has accomplished nothing. There is a way. Learn how in this session.
