Downunder Literature began in 2006 when Margaret and I, two dedicated home schooling mothers saw a great lack of Australian material that supported our eclectic homeschooling method.

Many of the books we wanted to use, and recommend to friends, were out of print. So we decided somebody needed to do something about it, so it might as well be us.
So over coffee, Downunder Literature was birthed.

What started as an afternoon tea hobby quickly expanded into a small publishing business which I (Michelle) now run with the assistance of Ken my husband and our children.

We have developed a few Downunder products for sale but we want to be more than that. We want to serve homeschoolers, teachers and parents by giving access (for free when possible) to distinctly Australian and New Zealand books and resource materials.

Mother Goose Copy Work
This copy work e-book has been developed to provide a language-arts resource that helps a child develop the early writing skills that lead to Foundation handwriting. I have chosen the ‘living literature’ of nursery rhymes because they have enduring value and the stories and Victorian illustrations are a delight to children world wide. Nursery rhymes have been used to teach young children for many years. They can learn dates, numbers, times, months , little truths or complete nonsense. Nursery rhymes were written to give children pleasure.

Our Sunburnt Country: An illustrated history of Australia was first published in 1964. Since then it has becomea highly recommended ‘living book’ for teaching Australian history in Australian homeschooling circles. It has now been republished, revised and updated to 2008. This beautifully illustrated eBook is an excellent narrative account of Australian history.

Hi, I'm Michelle and I run Downunder Literature. This business started in 2006 because of the great lack of good Australian homeschooling resources. So we decided somebody needed to do something about it.What started as an afternoon tea hobby quickly expanded into a small publishing business which I now run with the assistance of Ken my husband and our four children.
We want to serve homeschoolers, teachers and parents by giving access (for free when possible) to distinctly Australian and New Zealand books and resource materials. So if you are looking for some great material with a downunder, aussie flavour come for a visit.
